I Am Who You Say I Am
by Lavine
Have you ever posted on social media, waiting for the number of likes or comments that gave you that sense of approval? Or do something in fear of being left out? Do you experience that deep sense of insecurity, not knowing who I am or what am I here for? Unaware, many times our sense of approval stems from the response of others, especially those closest to us. Take a deep breath and ask yourself, who am I?
(Matthew 4:1-11) In the desert when Jesus was hungry, the devil came to tempt Jesus, not once but three times. The devil challenged Jesus’ identity as the Son of God, asking each time, “If you are the son of God, do this or do that”. Why would Mr Devil be so interested in who Jesus was? And all of these happened even before Jesus started performing any miracles or gathering his disciples.
The devil is aware of who Jesus was. He was the son of God, beloved child and highly favored. He realises if Jesus were to question who he was, it would mess up God’s plan of salvation through Him. He also knows that if he could make you doubt who you are, it would destroy the legacy you were meant to create. You are God’s BELOVED son or daughter, and NO ONE can ever take that away from you. When you know who you are and whose you belong to, you will carry your identity, and walk with power in the path of your destiny.
Today, let Heavenly Father personally reveal who you are in him. Let Him speak, our ears listen, our hearts capture and sink into the reality of what He says about you.
Application
Close your eyes. Imagine you are in a concert with billions of people. Everyone is shouting in the amazing atmosphere. Suddenly, Jesus walks to the middle of the stage. He invites you to come up and join Him. Silence dawn across the room as eyes follow your every step up the stage. When you finally meet Jesus face to face, He smiles at you and whispers something in your ear. Let yourself immerse in the situation, what is he saying to you? Write down the first word or impression that comes across your mind.

Have faith, that is who you are. Soak into the reality of your identity. Digest and proclaim with this song.
