Making Your Labor a Legacy

by Valerie

Our lives are mostly spent on studying and working. The daily routine that we have inevitably program us to function mechanically either at work or schools. However, beyond the mechanics of our job and our school work, have we ever paused and asked ourselves; “what have we accomplished? Are we merely putting in the necessary hours until we can get away from the office/school/university to do something else? Or are we using our labor to create a legacy that will reflect our faith which will leave a lasting impact?”

The key to creating that legacy is to make our work an act of worship. God has given each of us abilities that we can use to bless our workplace and reveal who God is and our identity in God which is an act of worship. In a world of chaos, cold, hate, ignorance and indifference, we are set to be ‘ the special one’ as we are the carrier of peace, warmth, love and care. As children of God, when we choose to live a life that is against the negative trends at the schools, campuses or workplace, the people around us will surely notice that we are ‘ the special ones’. The one that becomes the salt and light - reflecting and infusing the Kingdom values wherever we are, not just by what we say but also by what we do.

Application

Who are you in your community now? Are you studying / working? Does what you do reflect who God is? Soak in His presence and allow God to speak to you on what you can do to positively influence and thus bring forth your legacy in your current community.
